Detached casita addition matched to the architecture of the main residence

A well-executed addition should feel like it was always part of the home. That is harder than it sounds: it means matching existing architecture, materials and proportions closely enough that the seam disappears. We build attached additions and detached casitas including guest suites, home offices and pool houses, each one detailed to sit naturally against the house it belongs to.

What This Includes

  • Site and setback review before design begins.
  • Architectural matching of the existing structure.
  • Sourcing of matching exterior materials and finishes.
  • Guest suites and casitas.
  • Home offices and studios.
  • Pool houses and outdoor living structures.
  • Full permitting and inspection management.
  • Utility and systems integration with the main home.
  • Landscape reinstatement around the new build.

1

Architectural Matching

Rooflines, proportions, stucco and stone are matched to the existing home so the addition reads as original.

2

Guest Casitas

Detached guest suites with their own entry, bath and living space, built to the standard of the main house.

3

Home Offices

Quiet, well-lit workspaces separated from the main house, wired and conditioned for full-time use.

4

Pool Houses

Outdoor living structures and pool houses that extend how the property is used through the season.

The Moss Custom Homes process

Four phases, each one settled before the next begins, so the surprises stay out of your build.

PHASE 01

Discovery & Consultation

We start by understanding your vision, timeline and expectations, with a site consultation and a feasibility review before any design work begins.

PHASE 02

Planning & Pre-Construction

Contracts, finish and fixture selections, and permitting are all settled up front, which is what keeps costly changes from surfacing mid-build.

PHASE 03

Construction

Building begins with weekly client updates, consistent owner oversight, and quality inspections at every major transition.

PHASE 04

Completion & Handover

Final walkthrough, punch list resolution and an orientation on your home systems, followed by support well after you move in.

What we stand for

Three principles decide how we build, how we communicate, and who is answerable when something needs to be made right.

Questions, answered

Common questions about how we build, where we work, and how to begin.

We build throughout the greater Phoenix area, with most of our work in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Carefree and Cave Creek. We have also built in communities including Silverleaf, DC Ranch, Troon, Desert Highlands and Estancia.

Three kinds: ground-up custom homes, luxury remodels ranging from kitchens and primary suites through whole-home renovations, and high-end additions and detached casitas such as guest suites, home offices and pool houses.

Yes. John Ruyle personally oversees every project from the first conversation through to completion. That direct involvement is the reason we deliberately take on a select number of clients each year.

Moss Custom Homes is fully licensed and insured in Arizona, ROC #285174. The company was founded in 2010, following more than fifteen years of residential construction experience across carpentry, estimating and project management.

In four phases. Discovery and consultation to understand your vision and confirm feasibility, planning and pre-construction to lock in contracts, selections and permits, construction with weekly updates and inspections at each major transition, then completion, handover and ongoing support.
